Bio

Katia Osorio is a Honduran-American bassoonist based in Austin, Texas. As an avid soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, Katia is passionate about accessibility and representation within classical music and enjoys expressing these values through performance, concert curation, and other creative projects.

Katia maintains active schedule as a highly-sought after chamber and orchestral freelancer. She is the core bassoonist of the Monarch Chamber Players, a Houston-based, 501(c)3 chamber music collective committed to taking classical chamber music outside the concert hall and into accessible community spaces. Katia is a frequent guest musician with several other professional ensembles including the Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, ROCO, The Orchestra San Antonio, Orquésta Sinfónica de Minería (CDMX), Austin Symphony, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Waco Symphony, and Eastern Connecticut Symphony, amongst others. In addition to her collaborative performances and experiences, Katia was also the second prize winner at the international 2023 Meg Quigley Vivaldi Competition, a prestigious solo competition for womxn bassoonists of the Americas.

Offering is Katia’s debut solo album, set to release independently on May 31st, 2026, funded by an Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment (AACME) - Austin Live Music Award grant. 

Katia is a Doctor of Musical Arts, earning her DMA and BM from The University of Texas at Austin under the mentorship of Kristin Wolfe Jensen and her MM from Yale University under the tutelage of Frank Morelli.
